Filaments and Resins for 3D Printing serve as fundamental extrusion and curing raw materials in the production of high-resolution models and thermal prototyping.

The strength and thermal resistance of any physical object is directly dependent on the chosen polymer chemistry. For classic FDM systems, the basic raw materials are plastic filaments - strictly controlled (most often 1.75 mm or 2.85 mm) diameter threads wound on spools and protected from air humidity. The most popular PLA is biodegradable and provides excellent detailing without deformation, while engineering ABS and PETG offer high impact resistance and melting temperature, which is vitally necessary for functional mechanical load parts. Flexible production uses TPU polyurethane filaments. For SLA and DLP architecture machines, the main element is liquid photopolymer resins. These engineering liquids contain special photoinitiators that react to UV radiation (most often at a wavelength of 405 nm), instantly curing and forming microscopic, completely smooth layers. Depending on the additives, photopolymers can imitate ceramics, engineering plastics, or flexible rubber, and are irreplaceable in casting jewelry matrices, dental implants, and miniature figurines.

Raw material chemistry and thermal properties:

  • ABS and PETG thermal resistance: Provides excellent layer adhesion and the ability to withstand temperatures above 70°C, which is a critical parameter for vehicle and tool parts.
  • TPU flexibility: Thermoplastic polyurethane can withstand stretching and bending, regaining its original shape, ideal for seals, tires, and anti-vibration feet.
  • UV curing resins: Photopolymers guarantee absolutely anisotropic properties (equal strength in all directions) and an extremely smooth surface topology after post-processing washing.
  • Precise filament diameter: The filament production tolerance (±0.02 mm) eliminates the risk of clogging in the print head and guarantees a stable mass flow (Flow Rate) algorithm.

Properly selected and dry-stored polymer raw materials guarantee reliable print results without layer delamination or structural defects. When equipping large-scale and long-cycle printing rooms (Print Farms) with industrially reliable external lighting, manufacturers often and successfully integrate direct network-powered 220V LED strips.
