AG3 / LR41

A small battery, but massive importance to performance. The VIDEX AG3 / LR41 alkaline cell is specially designed for medical thermometers and lasers, guaranteeing continuous power in low-drain devices.

Why VIDEX button batteries are a smart purchase:

  • Pazīstama arī kā (analogi): LR41, 192, V3GA, 392.
  • High price-to-quality (TCO) ratio compared to expensive premium brands.
  • Excellent resistance to oxidation, protecting device contacts from rust.
  • Precise dimensions ensuring a perfect and snug fit with no wobble.

Never run out of power at the worst possible moment. Find this battery in our e-shop!

Q: What are the parameters of the AG3 / LR41 battery and its primary niche in the medical industry?

A: The AG3 (known as 392A) battery has a diameter of 7.9 mm and a thickness of 3.6 mm, generating approximately 30 mAh capacity at 1.5V voltage. This size has become the industry standard for pediatric and adult digital medical underarm and oral thermometers (to power LCD displays).

Q: Why do digital thermometers fail to operate accurately when the voltage of the AG3 (LR41) battery begins to drop?

A: Thermometer operation is based on an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that reads the temperature resistance signal. If the voltage of the VIDEX LR41 battery drops below 1.25V due to discharge, the internal reference voltage becomes unstable and the device may show erroneous (usually lower) body temperature data, therefore the element must be replaced when the Low-Battery icon appears.

Q: How do AG3 batteries work in multi-element LED booklights?

A: To operate a white LED diode, which has a working voltage of about 3.0V, 2 or 3 AG3 elements are connected in series in booklights (forming 3.0V–4.5V). Alkaline AG3 elements maintain 30 mAh capacity, but the LED diode discharges it gradually, meaning the light slowly becomes dimmer, signaling imminent replacement without sudden shut-off.

Q: Is it permissible to put the thinner AG2 (LR726) into an AG3 (LR41) thermometer socket in an emergency?

A: Although both have a 7.9 mm diameter, the AG2 is 1 mm thinner (2.6 mm). Inserting a thinner element does not achieve the necessary spring contact pressure, which in a thermometer causes temporary circuit breaks — the device will reset and the measurement must be started again.

Q: How should spare AG3 batteries be stored to guarantee their effectiveness at the beginning of operation?

A: Spare LR41 elements should be stored in their original sealed blister packaging at room temperature (15-20°C). Refrigerated storage is dangerous for alkaline elements because, upon taking them into warmth, condensation can short-circuit the battery contacts before it is inserted into the thermometer.
